IT Department visits the Hope Lodge

IT Department visits the Hope Lodge
In fall of 2008, the IT department of the Great Lakes Division went to the Hope Lodge for their annual meeting to cook for, and have dinner, with the guests staying at Hope Lodge.

"It was a wonderful experience to have dinner and visit with the guests at the Hope Lodge."
Rosemary Ridsdale
Manager, IT

"The experience for me was twofold. First, having the chance to sit down with a couple of patients fighting cancer was very humbling. I got a chance to listen to someone talk about what is really important to them. Tthe things they talked about were very simple, stuff I take for granted, like flowers, gardening, family, and friends.

They were extremely grateful for the dinner and the company to talk to. This helped me realize that I need to spend more time focused on certain quality things that I enjoy instead of spreading myself so thin that nothing gets my full attention.

[And secondly,] being out of the office with my colleagues, I really got to see and listen to them talk about their other interests outside of work, which I believe helps people understand each other better."
Douglas Lecato
Network Engineer, IT
