Creating a world with more birthdays
To most people, birthdays are just a reminder that they're getting older. But at the American Cancer Society, "Happy Birthday" is a victory song, because a world with less cancer is a world with more birthdays. And that's definitely something to celebrate.
More than 11 million Americans who have survived cancer—and countless others who have avoided it—will celebrate a birthday this year, thanks to the progress we're making together to help people stay well and get well, to find cures, and fight back.
Join the movement for more birthdays—declare the American Cancer Society the official sponsor of your birthday—and together we can save lives and give people more candles to light.
Watch this wonderful video that portrays the joy experienced when creating a world with more birthdays!
Take time to create more birthdays in May!
Here are ways you can get involved and create more birthdays this month:
- Join ACS on the steps of Michigan’s Capitol for Celebration at the State Capitol. Check out our advocacy story this month for details.
- If you have never been diagnosed with cancer and want to fight back, enroll in Cancer Prevention Study 3 (CPS-3) at one of the Relay For Life events chosen as sites in the Great Lakes Division. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to contribute to ACS cancer research that will reduce the cancer burden for this and future generations. Cancer survivors can help spread the word about this exciting research opportunity by encouraging friends, co-workers, and family members to enroll. To learn more and find a CPS-3 enrollment site near you, visit www.cancer.org/cps3.
