VOICES in the kitchen:
Made in heaven strawberry mousse
So we here at VOICES thought it would be fun to trial these healthy recipes ourselves, and take some photos of the end results.
Since Valentine’s Day is around the corner, I thought I’d attempt to make this heavenly sounding strawberry mousse. Here’s the recipe:
3 cups quartered strawberries
2 cups frozen reduced-calorie whipped topping
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup low-fat sour cream
In a blender or food processor, combine strawberries and sugar. Process until smooth. Pour contents into a large bowl. Add sour cream and mix well using a whisk. Fold whipped topping into strawberry mixture.
Spoon into 8 custard cups. Cover.
Freeze at least 4 hours.
Serves 8.
Approximate per serving: 102 calories; 4.7 grams of fat
End result: The mousse was a hit! If anything, be sure not to chill any longer than the time recommended, as one did get a little crunchy.
A strawberry a day...
Strawberries are high in vitamin C. Eight berries contain 130% of the recommended daily allowance of this vitamin.
