Become a Community Cancer Advocate (CCA)
A Community Cancer Advocate (CCA) is a volunteer position that serves as the ACS volunteer liaison to your State Representative and State Senator. Your role is to help us advance our legislative priorities in each state and serve as the “face” of ACS in your State House and State Senate districts.

As a CCA, your main responsibilities will include:

• Building a relationship with your state lawmakers (ex: attend a coffee hour or town hall forum they are hosting), meet with each of your state lawmakers at least once per year and report back to ACS staff.
• Responding to American Cancer Society and American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) email action alerts
• Maintaining a current ACS CAN membership (A minimum $10 annual membership fee)
• Sending letters to the editor to local media as requested on state and federal cancer issues and report submissions back to ACS staff.

It’s that easy. Sign up today. The term for this position is two years, beginning when you receive your welcome letter. There are no term limits. We host quarterly conference calls for Community Cancer Advocates to keep you up to speed on our legislative priorities. Becoming a CCA is a great way to take your advocacy to the next level.

ACS CAN
This year our goal is to create a world with more birthdays through advocacy! One way this can be done is by doubling our ACS CAN memberships.  So far this year, Great Lakes has 7,000 members. Last year to date we had approximately  5,700 members.  How can you help double the members and double the hope? Are you a current ACS CAN member? If not, renew your membership online today.
